Nardo organic coffee is produced using biodynamic practices as we believe these to be the purest form of organic farming. Fazenda Floresta and our biodynamic coffee producers coop have been Demeter certified for over 8 years by the Instituto Biodinâmico (IBD) in Brasil. We are committed to the expansion of biodynamic farming principles as route to ecological and economic sustainability for the people of our region as well as the preservation of the natural environment for which we have set aside over 50% of our land as a conservation area.
The entire process, from farming to roasting is Demeter certified to ensure that the strict ethical and ecological specifications set out by Demeter are complied through the whole production and distribution of our coffee. With this in mind our roasting partner, Has Bean Coffee, became the first Demeter certified roaster in the UK.
Biodynamic agriculture advocates practices that strive for a harmonious balance between all aspects of farming and food production processes. It takes into account the specifics of the environment, the forces of the cosmos, promotes the health and vitality of the soil, encourages biodiversity and fosters the health and well being of all humans working the land. It short, biodynamic agriculture is the most sustainable and ethical form of commercial food production in practice today.
